The
responsibility of the Sevier County Road Department is
The SAFETY of the traveling
public.
The
Sevier County Road Department is responsible for the maintenance
and improvement of all roads, bridges, road signs, cattle
guards etc. that are under the jurisdiction of Sevier County.
The
Road Department is constantly improving whether it be pavement
or gravel.

In
October of 2000 the Road Dept. purchased three 24
bottom dump trailers to increase productivity. By purchasing
these trailers, we will be saving the operating cost of
3 dump trucks. Basically, 6 dump truck -loads for the cost
of 3.
Some
of the changes that have been made at the Road Department
to benefit the public and save the taxpayers of Sevier County
money are
1.
The Board of Sevier County Commissioners adopted ordinance
#1999-11-1 regulating Roadway Right-Of Way Encroachment
on November 15th, 1999.
2.
Sevier County Road Department has adopted a "Sign Inspection
Protocol" and a policy regulating "The Maintenance
of Traffic Control Devices", the purpose to
prevent injury, loss of life and/or property due to accidents
that may occur due to improperly maintained or missing traffic
control devices.

The Sevier County Road Department has been involved with
protecting your RS2477 Rights-Of-Way What are RS2477
Rights? RS2477 rights-of-way are property rights originally
granted by the federal government to establish the ransportation
network essential to settlement of the western frontier.
Generally, these rights-of-way grants were made to local
governments and are held in trust by them for the public.
Today, they continue to provide virtually all the public
access to and across the hundreds of millions of acres of
public lands in the West and Alaska.
