Welcome to the Sevier County Recorder's Office page. We hope this page will help you to understand what the functions of the Recorders Office are and what services are available.

The Recorder's Office does:

  • Maintain current property maps
  • Provide property ownership for assessing & taxation purposes.
  • Sell copies of maps, microfilm, computer disks or CD's, and photocopies of recorded documents, including certified copies of documents.
  • Assist the public in locating real property on maps.
  • Keep the records open for public use Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except for posted holidays.
  • Record all documents that meet the state code requirements for recording.
  • Require all fees to be paid in advance
  • Record military documents at no charge.
  • Maintain an abstract or index for all documents and property located in the county.

The Recorder's Office does not:

  • Make title or lien searches for the public.
  • Give legal advice
  • Interpret recorded instruments for the public.
  • Furnish remainder descriptions to the public.
  • Prepare legal documents or write legal descriptions for the public.
  • Give out legal descriptions over the telephone.


In Sevier County, the Recorder's Office also houses the Survey Maps. These are indexed and available to the public for inspection during office hours. Copies of these surveys may be purchased.
