Meetings
Regular County Commission meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays at 1:30 pm to conduct legislative responsibilities. The commission also holds an administrative staff meeting on the first and third Mondays at 1:30 pm to fulfill executive and administrative functions. Both meetings are held at the County Administration Building:

Additionally, the board meets quarterly with the mayors and city council persons in a Council of Governments to coordinate the functions of local government in Sevier County. These and all commission meetings will be posted on the Sevier County's calendar on this website and through other media mediums.

What Happens in Commission Meetings
In County Commission meetings ordinances are discussed and passed, budges are set, bills are authorized for payment, business licenses are discussed and approved, appointments to various committees and boards are made, and employee hiring and dismissals are approved. Any county business of a legislative nature is conducted in commission meeting.

Board Responsibilities & Organization

As set by state statute, the elected Board of Sevier County Commissioners holds the responsibility for the executive and legislative powers, duties, and functions of the county. The board is charged with levying taxes, adopting ordinances, and making policy for the more than 20,000 people who reside in Sevier County as it relates to county business. Three county commissioners makeup the Board of Commissioners.
