Mission
Statement of the Assessors Office
We,
the employees of the Sevier County Assessors Office
have a primary mission to maintain the property assessment
system in a way that is equitable, fair, and uniform to all
the citizens of Sevier County--to ensure that the owner pays
no more than his fair share of the property tax, that no property
escapes the assessment process or is under assessed, and that
no property owner receives unauthorized preferential treatment.
Dear
Sevier County Taxpayer:
With
the exception of property exempted by the State Constitution
or by the laws or the United States, all tangible property
is subject to the property tax. Included among the constitutional
exemptions are property owned by government entities, farm
equipment, burial plots, and property by nonprofit organizations
with is used exclusively for religious, charitable, or educational
purposes.
To
help taxpayers better understand the assessment process, the
Sevier County Assessors Office has prepared the following
answers to questions which are commonly asked in our office.
If
you have any other questions regarding the valuation of your
property which are not addressed at this web site please call
the Assessors Office at 435-893-0431.
Sincerely,
Gail
DeMille
Sevier County Assessor
